Purpose The purpose of the public meeting is to present the proposed project and receive public input. The virtual and in-person meeting will consist of the same pre-recorded presentation by the project team, project exhibits and other information, and an opportunity to comment.
Description

The proposed eight-mile-long project would reconstruct and widen FM 2977, from a two-lane (one in each direction) undivided roadway to a four-lane (two in each direction) roadway with raised medians. The proposed improvements are being developed as two distinct roadway sections: an urban section from FM 762 to Powerline Road and a suburban section from Powerline Road to FM 361.

The proposed project would be subject to final design considerations, require approximately 73 acres of additional right-of-way (ROW), and potentially displace six residences and five non-residential structures. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for ROW acquisition and construction, may be obtained from the TxDOT Houston District Office by calling ROW representative at (713) 802-5696.

The proposed project would involve construction in wetlands and would involve an action in a floodplain. To improve drainage in the project area, the project team proposes three detention ponds. One pond would be located in the northern or urban section of FM 2977, and two would be located in the southern or less developed suburban section of the project. Any environmental documentation or studies, maps, and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project, are on file and available for review by appointment Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., at the TxDOT Houston District Office, 7600 Washington Avenue, Houston, Texas 77007. You may call (713) 802-5262 to set up an appointment or contact (281) 238-7920, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to schedule an appointment at the Fort Bend Area Office, 4235 SH 36, Rosenberg, Texas 77471.
