| In-person details | Thursday, July 17, 2025 TxDOT is providing an in-person option for individuals who would like to participate in person instead of online. The in-person option will be held in an open house format. In-person attendees will be able to view the same presentation delivered in the online public meeting which will be playing on a screen, review hard copies of project materials, ask questions of TxDOT staff and/or consultants, and leave written comments. |
| Purpose | The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input and provide information about the proposed widening FM 1187 from Maverick Street to FM 5 in Aledo, Parker County, Texas |
| Description | The proposed interim project would typically consist of four 12-foot-wide lanes (two in each direction). The roadway will include a raised median, dedicated left turn lanes, a crosswalk cutout for Aledo Early Childhood Academy, and a center left turn lane. The project includes realigning curves on FM 1187 and intersections with FM 5 and Barnwell Lane, while maintaining access. A 10-foot-wide sidewalk would be constructed along both sides of FM 1187 throughout the project area. Drainage would be through a curb and gutter system. The width of the right of way currently ranges from 50 to 80 feet. This project would add another 30 feet of width to accommodate the widening of the road, new sidewalks, and utilities. Although additional right of way would be required, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. The proposed ultimate configuration would widen FM 1187 to six lanes (three in each direction), eliminating the center left turn lane and raised median from the interim project, without needing additional right-of-way at that time. |
