Purpose The Texas Department of Transportation is proposing to improve FM 1187 from I-35W to Newt Patterson Road in Tarrant County, Texas.
Description

The proposed project would reconstruct and widen FM 1187 from I-35W to Newt Patterson Road from a two-lane rural to four or six-lane urban divided roadway (with three in each direction) to improve safety and mobility. The project consists of improvements to existing and proposed cross street intersections, drainage, bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, and the overall safety features of the roadways.

Updates have been made to the project alignment from the first public meeting in October 2022. The alignment has been shifted toward undeveloped areas to reduce impacts to residences. Also, based on public comment, median width reduction and shared-use path width narrowing reduced right-of-way needs for the project.

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require approximately 73 acres additional right of way and potentially displace one (1) residence and six (6) non-residential structures. In addition, the project would also require approximately 3 acres for drainage easements.
