| Purpose | The TxDOT Bryan District is preparing plans to improve various crossings along SH 19 from 4 miles south of FM 405 (near Sterling Chapel Road) to 3.6 miles north of SH 30 (near Louis Grant Road) in Walker County, Texas. This notice advises the public that TxDOT will be conducting a public meeting on the proposed project. |
| Description | The proposed improvements would reconfigure the existing crossovers to construct Reduced Conflict U-Turn intersections with offset U-turns. Additionally, right turn lanes will be constructed at Trail Ridge Road, Morris Lane and Wood Farm Road. The length of the proposed project is approximately 1.5 miles, and TxDOT does not anticipate right-of-way acquisition for this project. R-CUT intersections simplify decision-making for drivers and minimize the potential for higher severity crash types, such as T-bone accidents. These intersections allow left turns into intersecting side roads and eliminate left turns for vehicles exiting the side roads. Vehicles wanting to make a left from a side road would take a right and then utilize a U-turn offset from the intersection to change direction. Any environmental documentation or studies, maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available for inspection by appointment only Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at TxDOT Bryan District Office, 2591 North Earl Rudder Freeway, Bryan, TX 77803, 979-778-2165. |
| Accessibility | The public meeting will be conducted in English. If you need an interpreter or translator because English is not your primary language or have difficulty communicating in English, one will be provided to you. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. If you need interpretation or translation services or are a person with a disability who requires accommodation to attend and participate in the public meeting, please contact the Bryan District Public Information Officer at 979-778-9764 no later than 4 p.m. CT Monday, April 13, 2026.
