| Purpose | The TxDOT Bryan District is preparing plans to improve I-45 from FM 2989 in Walker County to 0.8 miles north of SH 75 in Madison County, Texas. |
| Description | The proposed projects would update approximately 14 miles (Segment 4 - 7.78 miles; Segment 5 6.544 Miles) of I-45 to current interstate design standards to enhance safety, increase roadway capacity to accommodate current and future traffic, and improve connectivity for local travelers. Proposed improvements include adding one main lane in each direction, converting existing two-way frontage roads north of US 190/SH 21 to one-way frontage roads, providing a new two-way frontage road between FM 2989 and Spur 67, replacing bridges and increasing vertical clearance to accommodate freight traffic, updating interchanges to improve traffic flow, and providing shared-use paths for pedestrian and bicycle use, where appropriate. Although additional right of way would be required, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction can be obtained from the TxDOT Bryan District Right-of-Way Office by calling 979-213-7591. The proposed projects would involve construction in wetlands and would involve an action in a floodplain. Any environmental documentation or studies, maps, and drawings showing the projects' location and design, and other information regarding the proposed projects are on file and available for inspection by appointment Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Bryan District Office, 2591 North Earl Rudder Freeway, Bryan, TX 77803, 979-778-2165. This information will also be available for inspection at the public meeting. |
