Purpose  The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Liberty County are proposing to widen and replace the Whites Bayou bridge on CR 109 from approximately 145-feet west of Whites Bayou to approximately 140-feet east of Whites Bayou in Liberty County, Texas. This notice is affording an opportunity to comment as part of the environmental review process for this project.
Description

The existing single 12-foot travel lane on the CR 109 roadway will be expanded to include one 11-foot travel lane in both the eastbound and westbound directions, with 1-foot outside shoulders in both the eastbound and westbound direction.  The existing right of way (ROW) width will be increased to include a 10-foot permanent easement to the south of the existing 50-foot ROW, for a total of 60 feet. The existing rail car bridge will be replaced with an 85-foot long by 26-foot-wide, three-span, concrete bridge.  The project area along CR 109 is 0.05 miles long and is located south of Devers in Liberty County, Texas.

Although additional ROW would be required, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for ROW acquisition and construction can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling 409-892-7311.
