Public Meeting - SH 105 Improvement Project

Where:

New Corrected Address:
Sour Lake Community Center
250 S. Ann Street
Sour Lake, TX 77659 (Map)

When:

Thursday, May 2, 2019
5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Purpose:

The purpose of the public meeting is to gather public input on the proposed SH 105 Improvement Project, which includes reconstructing and expanding SH 105 from SH 326 in Sour Lake to Pine Island Bayou near Bevil Oaks in Hardin County, Texas. The meeting will be an open house format so the public may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions. Comments must be received on or before Friday, May 17, 2019, to be a part of the official public meeting record.

Description:

The approximately 7.3-mile long project would replace the existing two-lane facility with a four-lane divided roadway with shoulders and a median. Within the Sour Lake city limits, the proposed roadway would include a raised median, shared-use lanes to accommodate bicyclists, and sidewalks for pedestrians. Outside the city limits, the proposed roadway would include a 40-foot wide grass median, median crossovers, and 4-foot wide inside shoulders with 10-foot wide outside shoulders to accommodate bicyclists.

Additional right of way would be needed to provide a maximum width of 240 feet, which could potentially displace residential and commercial properties. Please review the right-of-way project page and the landowner’s rights publications, which contains more information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program concerning services and benefits for displaced persons and businesses if needed.

Special Accommodations:

The public meeting will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending who have special communication or accommodation needs, or require an interpreter, are encouraged to contact TxDOT Public Information Officer Sarah Dupre at (409) 898-5745. Requests should be made at least five days before the event. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate these needs.

Memorandum of Understanding:

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
