Purpose | The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority), in coordination with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), is considering improvements to US 290 between SH 130 and SH 95 South to increase mobility and safety along this highly congested corridor. |
Description | An environmental study and schematic design is underway to evaluate the extension of the 290 Toll from its current end point near SH 130 in Travis County farther east to SH 95 South in Bastrop County, covering approximately 15 miles. This notice advises the public that TxDOT and the Mobility Authority will be conducting a virtual Community Listening Session on the proposed project with two in-person options. While the proposed improvements will be determined through this study, TxDOT and the Mobility Authority are considering the addition of tolled mainlanes alongside existing non-tolled US 290 general-purpose lanes, enhancing cross street intersections, including the possibility of new signals and potential pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure enhancements where feasible. The proposed project could, subject to final design considerations, require additional right-of-way and potentially displace residential and non-residential structures. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses, should displacements occur. The proposed project may involve construction in wetlands. The proposed project would involve an action in a floodplain. |
Accessibility | The virtual and in-person public meeting will be conducted in English and Spanish. TxDOT and the Mobility Authority are committed to providing access and accommodations to participate in these events. For special needs, contact the project team at 512-225-7788 or as shown in notice at least seven days before the meeting. |
