Public comment deadline All comments must be received or postmarked by Friday, Feb. 23, 2024 to be included in the official meeting record. Responses to comments received will be available on this webpage once they have been compiled.
Virtual meeting details The virtual meeting will consist of a pre-recorded video presentation and will include both audio and visual components. The virtual public meeting will be available at the top of this page starting Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at 5 p.m. through Friday, Feb. 23, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. If you do not have internet access, you may call 325-676-6825 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to ask questions and access project materials during the project development process.
In-person meeting details In-person attendees will be able to view the same presentation delivered in the online public meeting which will be playing on a screen, review hard copies of project materials, ask questions of TxDOT staff and/or consultants and leave written comments. The in-person option will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Purcell Elementary School, 3633 N 14th St., Abilene, TX 79603.
Purpose The purpose of this public meeting is to present and receive public input on the proposed project to widen I-20 to three lanes in each direction from Abilene West city limits to .6 miles west of Catclaw Creek, a project length of 5.21 miles.
Description

TxDOT's Abilene Distirct plans to bring future safety and mobility improvements to the I-20 corridor. The proposed improvements include widening the roadway to three lanes in each direction, implementing improvements to ramps and frontage, and providing continuous shared pedestrian and bicyclist paths along each frontage road.

Accessibility The virtual public meeting and in-person option will be conducted in English. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or have difficulty communicating effectively in English, one will be provided to you. If you need interpretation or translation services or are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend and participate in the virtual public meeting or in-person option, please contact Tracy Jones, P.E., TxDOT Project Manager, at 325-676-6825 no later than 4 p.m. CT, Monday, Feb. 5, 2024. Please be aware that advance notice is required as some services and accommodations may require time for TxDOT to arrange.

How to make a comment Written comments from the public regarding the proposed project are requested and may be submitted by mail to the TxDOT Abilene District Office, Attn: Tracy Jones, P.E., 4250 North Clack Street, Abilene, Texas 79601. Written comments may also be submitted by email to Tracy.Jones@txdot.gov. All comments must be received on or before Friday, Feb. 23, 2024. Responses to comments received will be available online at www.txdot.gov once they have been prepared.
Memorandum of Understanding The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 9, 2019, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
