I-10 Projects San Antonio - Guadalupe, Bexar, Kendall and Kerr Counties

TxDOT is committed to improving mobility and increasing safety for motorists using the heavily-traveled I-10 corridor.

Multiple improvement projects are currently planned or under construction along I-10. The projects include adding and reconstructing mainlanes, improving overpasses and interchanges, reconstructing/reconfiguring ramps and shifting from two-way to one-way frontage road access. These are part of a larger plan to improve the entire I-10 corridor between San Antonio and Houston.

The TxDOT San Antonio District is responsible for I-10 as it runs through Guadalupe, Bexar, Kendall and Kerr Counties. I-10 serves as a major east-west corridor in the Southern United States and serves as a hurricane evacuation route for areas west of Houston.

The purpose of the proposed and current projects on I-10 through the San Antonio district is to meet local and regional future travel demands by increasing capacity, improving the safety of the roadway by correcting geometric deficiencies, upgrading the facility to meet current design standards and providing more efficient hurricane evacuation.
