FM Spur 121 (Grayson Parkway)

Project overview

TxDOT, Paris District, with support from the Grayson County Regional Mobility Authority (GCRMA), is proposing to construct a new location roadway from CR 60 (at the Denton/Grayson County line) north to FM 121 in Grayson County, Texas, referred to as the FM Spur 121 (Grayson Parkway). The approximate length is 4.5 miles.

Project need & purpose

Within this project, TxDOT is addressing the need to connect NTTA’s future extension of the Dallas North Tollway, known as DNT Segment 4B Frontage Road project (by others), to a safe state facility (FM 121). Currently, the segment 4B project will be constructed to end at the county line at County Road 60, a 2-lane paved roadway that ranges between 18 and 20 feet wide with no shoulders. The purpose of the FM Spur 121 project is to improve safety, increase regional mobility, and improve connectivity.

Project details

The project is currently in the schematic and environmental phase, which is one of the early stages in the project development life cycle. The purpose of this stage of design is to finalize a recommended alignment that improves safety and meets the need and purpose of the project. Once a recommended alternative is determined, the project team will finalize a preliminary roadway design and perform an environmental assessment of the proposed project. This process includes two public meetings and a public hearing that will allow the public to learn more about the project and provide input on the project.

Public involvement

TxDOT is seeking input on a proposed recommended alternative at a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. The virtual public meeting video and other materials will be available through the comment period deadline of Wednesday, August 12, 2020.

TxDOT held a public meeting on March 20, 2017 to display preliminary roadway and intersection alternatives as a part of the initial stage of the project.
