TxDOT is proposing to make improvements to SH 6 in Gorman, from 0.18 mile north of Crescent Street to the Comanche County Line. The proposed SH 6 improvements would include the full reconstruction of the roadway pavement, which is failing in many places. Concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks would also be added or upgraded throughout the length of the project. All sidewalks would conform to ADA requirements (Americans with Disabilities Act).

Project Development Phases and Anticipated Schedule

  • Develop preliminary schematic designs for proposed project.
  • Conduct first Public Meeting: Nov. 15, 2018.
  • Begin project design based on public feedback.
  • Review of preliminary design plans.
  • Conduct second Public Meeting: TBD.
  • Incorporate additional public feedback and finalize project design.
  • Summer 2019: Begin utility relocations and finalize right-of-way acquisition.
  • Contract Letting: Spring 2020.
  • Construction Begins: Estimated Fall 2020.
  • Projected project cost: Approximately $7 million.
