When:

Purpose:

The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input on the proposed improvements to 11th and 12th Streets from Columbus Avenue and Gurley Lane from 10th to 27th Streets in McLennan County, Texas.  The meeting will be an open house format so the public may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions. A brief presentation will begin at 5:15 p.m. Comments must be received on or before Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, to be a part of the official meeting record.

Description:

The proposed improvements include adding pavement markings and signage for 6-foot-wide bicycle lanes within the existing roadway and in-filling 6-foot- wide sidewalks in areas where there are gaps or segments of structural damage in the existing sidewalks. The bicycle lanes begin on 11th Street at Columbus Avenue and continue along 12th Street to Garden Avenue. The 6-foot-wide sidewalks will be constructed along the east side of 12th Street from Kennedy Circle to Brown Avenue; on the west side of 12th Street from Carter Drive to Gurley Lane; and primarily on the east side of Gurley Lane from 10th Street to 27th Street.  Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps will also be constructed at driveways and street intersections, with pedestrian crosswalks added where necessary.  Additional right of way was required based on the current design.

Special Accommodations:

TxDOT makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of the public. The open house will be in English. If you have a special communication accommodation or need for an interpreter, a request can be made. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can also be made to accommodate most needs. Please call (254) 774-9611 at least two working days prior to the meeting. Please be aware that advance notice is requested as some accommodations may require time for TxDOT to arrange.
