The purpose of the meetings is to share data and information related to traffic, mobility and safety issues along SH 16 (Bandera Road). Additionally, the city of San Antonio’s Bandera Road Corridor Plan will present information regarding land use. Please note that proposed improvements will not be available at these meetings. The focus of the public meetings is on obtaining the community’s thoughts and feedback regarding existing land use and transportation issues of SH 16 (Bandera Road), as identified through new data, as well as local priorities for future improvements.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is working closely with officials from the cities of Leon Valley and San Antonio to study potential improvements along SH 16 (Bandera Road) between I-410 and Loop 1604. This 6.5-mile stretch of road is the 8th most congested road in the region and one of the top 100 most congested in the State of Texas.
The SH 16 (Bandera Road) Project involves the collection of data to analyze existing project corridor issues, coordination with project stakeholders and the public, the consideration of potential roadway improvements including bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, as well as the preparation of environmental studies. The proposed improvements will ultimately be based on traffic, local and regional access needs, safety, the avoidance and minimization of environmental impacts and the consideration of community input.
The meeting will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending the meetings who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact (210) 349-3273 at least two days prior to the meetings. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.
