Purpose

TxDOT Pharr District is proposing to widen approximately 9.7 miles of SH 107 from SH 495 (Griffin Parkway) to FM 2220 (Ware Road) in Hidalgo County, Texas. The virtual meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, at 5 p.m. Written comments from the public regarding the proposed project are requested and may be submitted by mail to Blanton & Associates, Inc., Attn: SH 107 Project, 5 Lakeway Centre Court, Suite 200, Austin, TX 78704.

Written comments may also be submitted by email. Verbal comments may be submitted by phone by leaving a voice message at (956) 332-2570. The comment period has been extended to Friday, March 12, 2021. Responses to comments received will be available online at the web address noted above once they have been prepared.

Description

This approximately 9.7-mile section of SH 107 from SH 495 to FM 2220 is currently four lanes in each direction. TxDOT is proposing to widen the existing roadway and provide a raised median. TxDOT will consider the location of left-turn bays and crossovers along the project length. Additionally, TxDOT is requesting input on the preferred location of a shared-use path. Improvements would be done within the existing 170-foot right of way and no new right of way or easements are expected to be needed for the project.

No residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling (956) 702-6100.

The proposed project may involve construction in wetlands and is within a floodplain.

How to sign up for an in-person meeting

TxDOT is providing an in-person option for individuals who would like to participate in person instead of online. In-person attendees will be able to view the same presentation delivered in the online public meeting (which will be playing on a screen), review hard copies of project materials, ask questions of TxDOT staff or consultants from a socially distanced approach and leave written comments.

The in-person option will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Pharr Area Office
521 W. Ferguson Pharr,
TX, 78577-1231.

Attendance at the in-person option will be by appointment only. Individuals wishing to attend the in-person option must call Isaac Garza, P.E. at 956-702-6248 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to make an appointment. In recognition of COVID-19, enhanced safety measures will be applied at the in-person option, including a requirement to wear a face mask, submit to a temperature check prior to entry, have an appointment and follow social distancing practices. If anyone arrives without an appointment, they may be asked to wait outside to ensure the appropriate occupancy is maintained within the meeting room.
