In-Person Option: Thursday, July 15, 2021, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Purpose:

TxDOT is proposing to improve US Highway 62/385 in the city of Seminole in Gaines County, Texas. This notice advises the public that TxDOT will be conducting a virtual public meeting regarding the proposed project.

Description:

The virtual meeting will consist of a pre-recorded video presentation and will include both audio and visual components. The presentation will be posted online by the date and time listed above. Following the virtual public meeting, the presentation will remain available for viewing at the web address indicated above. If you do not have internet access, you may call Kylan Francis, P.E., Director of Transportation Planning and Development, at (806) 748-4490 to ask questions and access project materials during the project development process.

Additionally, TxDOT is providing an in-person option for individuals who would like to participate in person instead of online. In-person attendees will be able to view the same presentation delivered in the online public meeting which will be playing on a screen, review hard copies of project materials, ask questions of TxDOT staff from a socially distanced approach, and leave written comments. Written comments may be submitted by mail, email or online by Friday, July 30, 2021 as explained below.

The proposed project would improve mobility and safety through Seminole. The proposed options will be presented as follows:

  • One-way Pair Option: this option consists of converting the existing US 62/385 into a three-lane, one-way roadway (northbound), and converting the existing 2nd Street into the other three-lane, one-way roadway (southbound).
  • Existing Rehab Option: this proposed option (also known as the No-Build Option) would not change traffic direction and would maintain the current highway with improvements to the pavement, sidewalks and lighting.

To view additional materials or take the survey, visit the Seminole Relief Route project web page.

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace: one residence and four non-residential structures for the One-way Pair Option; and no displacements for Existing Rehab Option. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction, can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling Timothy Richardson at (806) 748-4342.

If you have any general questions or concerns regarding the proposed project or the virtual meeting, please contact Kylan Francis, P.E., Director of TP&D, at (806) 748-4490.
