Open House - I-45 Harris/Galveston Counties (NASA 1 Bypass to South of FM 518)

Where: Creekside Intermediate School
4320 W. Main St. (FM 518)
League City, TX 77573
When: Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015
5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Purpose: The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input on the proposed design changes on I-45 from NASA 1 Bypass to south of FM 518, in Harris and Galveston counties.

Description: This open house meeting will present the design changes and receive public input about the I-45 Improvement and Reconstruction Project. Since the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) issued a Finding of No Significant Impact on Feb. 9, 2006 for this project, continuing project development efforts have identified the need for design changes, which include:
  • Reversing and braiding the northbound entrance and exit ramps; this means the northbound entrance and exit ramps will be reversed, and the northbound entrance ramp will go over the northbound exit ramp
  • Widening northbound exit ramp to a two-lane exit ramp
  • Lengthening Clear Creek frontage road bridges
  • Constructing detention ponds
Approximately six acres of additional right of way are required for the proposed design changes. No additional displacements are anticipated.

The open house will be held in a come-and-go format where you can visit with TxDOT staff and team members one-on-one regarding the project.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
