When:

Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018
Open House: 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Public Hearing: 6:30 p.m.

Purpose:

The purpose of the public hearing is to gather public input and receive comments on the proposed widening of SH 146 from FM 518 to FM 517 in Galveston County, Texas. The first part of the meeting will be an open house format so the public may come and go at their convenience, followed by a formal presentation and comment period.

Description:

The proposed project includes the following improvements to decrease traffic congestion, increase mobility, and improve hurricane evacuation, operational efficiency and safety along SH 146:

  • Widen from a four-lane divided roadway to a six-lane divided roadway
  • Construct a grade-separated intersection (elevated intersection) at SH 96

Total length of the project is approximately 5.1 miles. The project would require additional right of way and would potentially displace three commercial structures and one vacant structure.

Written comments must be postmarked on or before Feb. 23, 2018, to be part of the official public meeting record.
