Purpose:

Memorial City Redevelopment Authority (MCRA)/Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) 17 on behalf of the City of Houston, and in cooperation with TxDOT, will host a public meeting regarding the proposed reconstruction of Memorial Drive from east of Beltway 8 to east of Tallowood Drive in the City of Houston, Harris County. The meeting will be an open house format so the public may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions. Comments must be received on or before Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, to be a part of the official meeting record. 

Description:

The proposed improvements include the following:

  • Reconstructing the roadway by widening Memorial Drive to two 12-foot wide travel lanes in each direction with a raised median
  • Installing 8-foot wide ADA-compliant sidewalk along both sides of Memorial Drive
  • Upgrading subsurface public utilities
  • Upgrading existing traffic signals 
  • Replacing the remaining existing ditches with an upgraded storm sewer system by installing varying sized reinforced concrete boxes and pipes

There is approximately .02 acre of new right of way required.

Requests should be made at least five working days prior to the public meeting. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate these needs.

Memorandum of Understanding:

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
