Purpose:

TxDOT is evaluating the I-10 corridor from the New Mexico State Line south to FM 3380. The purpose of the study is to analyze and evaluate the current and future transportation needs for the I-10 El Paso corridor. A series of open houses will serve to present project goals and objectives, as well as to solicit public input on area transportation issues and needs. The meeting will be an open house format so citizens may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions.

Description:

With five U.S. and Mexico ports of entry in the study limits and with the use of I-10 as a major east/west freight corridor, the importance of this corridor is far-reaching. Furthermore, El Paso is experiencing significant growth and development, but because of its unique geographical location El Paso is limited to any alternative routing options, which ultimately puts more demand on to I-10.

The Reimagine I-10 feasibility study consists of three layers of study for improvement: operational, corridor-wide and technological. Within each layer, solutions such as ramp consolidation, additional capacity and truck platooning will be considered. More information may be gained on the project website, Reimagine I-10.

Persons interested in attending the open house with special accommodation needs are encouraged to contact the TxDOT El Paso District Public Information Office at (915) 790-4200 at least two working days prior to the meeting. TxDOT will make all reasonable efforts to accommodate other special needs as requested.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and TxDOT.
