Purpose:

TxDOT is holding a virtual public meeting to receive input on conceptual improvements along US 190 / SH 6 in south Robertson County. An alignment study has been undertaken to address safety and improve mobility along SH 6. The study extends from south of Hearne to Texas-OSR in Robertson County, approximately 11.5 miles.

Description:

The existing SH 6 south of Hearne to Texas-OSR generally consists of a four-lane undivided highway with two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction and 6-foot outside shoulders. Some segments contain a 14-foot wide center turn lane or a 4-foot wide flush median. In addition, TxDOT recently constructed acceleration and deceleration lanes along this corridor at selected locations to improve safety. The existing right of way varies from 150 to 330 feet.

The proposed conceptual improvements would upgrade SH 6 to a four-lane divided highway with two lanes in each direction separated by a grassy median. Additional right of way would be required along the proposed corridor. The project improvements would generally follow the existing alignment. For the segment near Campbell’s Creek at the Union Pacific Railroad, a new crossing may be developed.
