Purpose:

The purpose of the public meeting is to gather public input on the proposed reconstruction and widening of FM 1397 (Summerhill Road) from University Avenue to 0.1 mile north of North Park Road in Texarkana, Bowie County, Texas.  The total length is approximately 1.6 miles.  The meeting will be an open house format so the public may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions. Comments must be received on or before Friday, June 21, 2019, to be a part of the official public meeting record.

Description:

The goal of the project is to widen FM 1397 (Summerhill Road) from a 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane roadway with a center left-turn lane. In order to accommodate cyclists and pedestrians, bicycle lanes and sidewalks are proposed to be included in this project. The proposed project will require additional right of way.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
