Will I-69 be tolled?

I-69 Texas is in the early planning stages, so the manner in which it will be paid for has not been determined. Paying for I-69 can be done traditionally using federal funds, the state highway fund or possibly using other innovative financing tools such as public-private partnerships. Projects must be on the state highway system to be eligible for development under this program. Local communities may decide to develop and fund portions of I-69 in their area and may be able to use pass-through financing or public-private partnerships. Under Texas law, the number of existing free lanes cannot be reduced if a toll road is built.
