Trivia
- New facility completed in June 2024. The building’s contemporary adobe style is oriented for optimum mountain views, and is surrounded by native landscaping, walking trails, viewing scopes, and a man-made arroyo. Indoor exhibits highlight unique local geologic features, and also include a “space room” in recognition of nearby areas’ space tourism activities.
- The county was named after David B. Culberson, a U.S. senator from Texas.
- The nearby town of Van Horn was named for Lt. James Judson Van Horn, who commanded a cavalry station post there around the 1860s.
