Purpose:
TxDOT is proposing to widen FM 521 from FM 2234 to SH 6 in Fort Bend County, Texas. Engineering displays and environmental documents will be available for viewing at 5:30 p.m. with the formal hearing starting at 6:30 p.m.
Description:
The project proposes to:
- Reconstruct and widen the FM 521 roadway from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided facility
- Construct raised medians, a grade separation over FM 521 at Broadway Street
- Add a sidewalk on the east side of the roadway
- Add intersection improvements
- Add turn lanes at various locations
The proposed project would require approximately 23.2 acres of new right of way (ROW).
The proposed project would impact less than 0.5 acre of wetlands. All unavoidable impacts to jurisdictional waters of the US, including wetlands, would be covered by a Nationwide Permit 14 from the US Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District with a possible pre-construction notification.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
Comments must be received on or before April 27, 2018, to be a part of the official public hearing record.
