2025 TMUTCD
The current version of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) is the 2025 TMUTCD. The 2025 TMUTCD became effective on Jan. 18, 2026, and remains effective until a revision of the TMUTCD is adopted into Texas law by the Texas Transportation Commission. 2025 TMUTCD Revision 1 - in progress
The FHWA adopted and published Revision 1 of the 11th Edition of the federal MUTCD with an effective date of March 5, 2026. Revision 1 of the 11th Edition of the federal MUTCD provides minor technical corrections and addresses editorial changes identified since the 11th Edition of the federal MUTCD was published on Dec. 19, 2023. The changes promote uniformity and ultimately improve and promote the safe and efficient use of roads that are open to public travel. The 2025 TMUTCD is being revised to maintain substantial conformance with Revision 1 of the federal manual.
On July 30, 2026, the Texas Transportation Commission approved the minute order authorizing the publication of the draft 2025 TMUTCD Revision 1 in the Texas Register for the purpose of receiving public comments. The posting in the Texas Register on Aug. 14, 2026 initiated a 30-day public comment period. The draft TMUTCD for public comment has been uploaded below.
