Approved header type expansion joint systems
Select a header joint material that meets the requirements of DMS-6140 from the following list:
Select a class 7 joint sealant or one specified on the plans that meet the requirements of DMS-6310 from the following list.
Ensure joint sealers are compatible with header materials. Use primers in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications for both the header installation and seal installation. Manufacturer’s representative for the header material must meet with TxDOT and contractor personnel prior to installing the header material per Item 454, "Bridge Expansion Joints."

Material provider representative must meet with TxDOT and contractor personnel prior to installing asphalt plug materials per Special Specification 4001, “Asphaltic Plug Expansion Joint System.”
