TxDOT Teams Up With Dallas Cowboys to Help One Lucky Texan Score Hybrid Car as Part of 'Drive Clean Texas' Campaign
AUSTIN - The Texas Department of Transportation and the Dallas Cowboys are teaming up to help clean the air and save fuel as part of the “Drive Clean Texas” air quality campaign. The winning drive will help one lucky Texan score big with a donated 2015 Ford Fusion SE Hybrid from the “Drive Clean Texas Roadcents” Sweepstakes.
The campaign helps Texans save gas and keep the air clean by reminding drivers to get regular tune-ups, properly inflate tires and combine errands. “Drive Clean Texas” also promotes Roadcents, a Web-based app for a mobile device or computer that helps drivers track vehicle maintenance and reduce emissions.
“We can all make a difference in air quality – and save money – by keeping our vehicles in peak condition, which reduces emissions,” said Margo Richards, TxDOT Travel Information Division director. “The Roadcents app helps you do that, and so does driving a low-emission vehicle like the 2015 Ford Fusion. We are so pleased to once again have the support of the Dallas Cowboys in our effort to help Texas motorists drive clean.”
Drivers can save as much as $845 a year in gas by driving more sensibly and changing aggressive driving habits like speeding and rapid starts and stops. Regular oil and fuel filter changes can save motorists more than $100 in annual gas spending.
Texas drivers age 18 and older have until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 8, 2014, to enter the hybrid car sweepstakes at www.roadcents.org. Three finalists will receive two tickets to the Dec. 21 football game between the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts. The sweepstakes grand prize winner will be randomly selected on Dec. 21 before the game. Visitors to the site also can find more tips on reducing air pollution and saving gas.
