TxDOT Teams with Dallas Cowboys to Hand Off Hybrid Car as Part of Drive Clean Across Texas Campaign
Winner will be named prior to kickoff at Cowboys vs. Broncos game
AUSTIN — Giving new meaning to the term, “winning drive,” the Texas Department of Transportation has teamed up with the Dallas Cowboys to give away a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid as part of the Drive Clean Across Texas air quality campaign. Deadline for entry is Sept. 15.
Throughout the summer, TxDOT encouraged drivers to Drive Clean Across Texas by offering useful tips for saving gas and keeping Texas air clean. Driving a low-emission vehicle, such as a gas-electric hybrid, is one of the best ways motorists can help improve air quality.
“How we drive and maintain our vehicles can make a difference in air quality,” said Margo Richards, TxDOT Travel Information Division director. “We are so pleased to have the support of the Dallas Cowboys in our effort to educate motorists about good driving habits that will reduce harmful vehicle emissions and save money at the gas pump.”
According to fueleconomy.com, drivers can save about $85 a year in gas by keeping the correct pressure in their tires. Other tips include regular oil and fuel filter changes, driving the speed limit and combining errands.
Texas drivers age 18 and older have until 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 15 to enter the hybrid car sweepstakes at DriveCleanAcrossTexas.org. The car was donated by the Dallas Cowboys. Three finalists will be chosen randomly to select the grand-prize winner at AT&T Stadium on Oct. 6 prior to the Cowboys football game against the Denver Broncos.
