Anderson County

Palestine crews will be performing overlay on FM 323. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Anderson County construction projects updates:

US 175 Widening Project

  • Limits: From 0.4 miles SE of SH 155, SE to Cuney
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction, LTD
  • Cost: $55.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2026

The contractor is scheduled to work on the eastbound side, constructing driveways and ditches. Crews will also continue work on the new rail on the westbound bridge. They will also set panels on the new eastbound bridge, as well as finalizing ditches and slopes. The contractor is also planning to work on roadway elements involving new pavement and road surface work in the westbound lanes. The project consists of expansion to a four-lane roadway with new bridges across the Neches River.

US 79 Truck Parking Area

  • Limits: From 2.2 Mi E of FM 645 in Palestine
  • Contractor: FNH Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $664,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work have been completed.

The contractor is awaiting final acceptance. The project includes concrete curb and gutter, earthwork, and drainage improvements.

Gus Engeling Texas Parks and Wildlife

  • Limits: Roads and parking lot within Gus Engeling Wildlife Management area
  • Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, LTD
  • Cost: $171,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work have been completed.

The contractor is awaiting final acceptance. The project includes surface treatment, pavement striping, and drainage improvements.

Cherokee County

Jacksonville crews will be widening FM 1798 from US 79 to FM 2867. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Cherokee County construction projects updates:


US 175 Widening Project

  • Limits: From 0.5 miles E of the Anderson County line (CR 3509) to FM 347 in Jacksonville
  • Contractor: A.L. Helmcamp, INC.
  • Cost: $168 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2028

The following county road intersections will be closed within the project limits:


  • CR 3410 intersection: local traffic will need to use the detour route for FM 855.
  • CR 3416 intersection: local traffic will need to use the detour route for FM 855.

The contractor will continue to work on the westbound roadway elements in preparation of switching traffic through Cuney. The contractor will also continue working on bridge elements, setting deck panels, clearing utility items, and building storm drain systems. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the area. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph throughout the project limits. The project consists of expansion to a four-lane roadway with new bridges, grading, asphalt, drainage structures, pavement markings, and signage.

SH 204

  • Limits: From SH 110 to the Rusk County line
  • Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
  • Cost: $22.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2025

This project consists of adding a super-two highway section. This week, the contractor is scheduled to begin work on culverts, embankment, and cement treating the subgrade. Crews will also install and maintain SW3P measures. Motorists should drive with caution in the work zone. Lane closures are anticipated.

US 79

  • Limits: Rusk County line, southwest to 0.160 mile east of SH 110
  • Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
  • Cost: $4.25 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2025

The contractor will have various lane closures for guard rail, mow strip, and embankment installation. This project will consist of rehabilitation of the existing road, which consists of pavement repair, planning, resurfacing, metal beam guard fence, and pavement markings.

FM 2339 – SH 110

  • Limits: 2.7 miles north of Rusk
  • Contractor: Red Barron
  • Cost: $1.6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2025

This project is a change order to a bridge preventative maintenance project that consists of installing a temporary soil nail wall and a permanent retaining wall to address slope failure on SH 110. The contractor is scheduled to complete the permanent retaining wall. Motorists should drive with caution when work is in progress. No lane closures expected.

US 69 and FM 2493 Grade Separated Interchange Realignment – SH 110

  • Limits: US 69 – From 0.5 mi N of FM 2493 W to 0.5 mi south of FM 2493 E; FM 2493 – From 0.3 mi south of FM 344 to US 69 near Bullard
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $38.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2027

The contractor is scheduled to work on storm sewer installation on FM 2493 East. They will then move to dirt work when work is complete. Work may also occur on Old Jacksonville Road near Bullard High School. No lane closures are expected. The project consists of a grade separated interchange and realignment of FM 2493 West of US 69. Motorists should pay attention and drive with caution.

US 69 Safety Improvement

  • Limits: US 69 limits from FM 241 to 1.11 miles north of FM 851
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $3.85 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2025

When work is complete on SH 31 in Smith County, crews will move to US 69 to begin prep work for the mow strip. Lane closures at not anticipated. Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution. The project consists of safety improvements consisting of the installation of a median cable barrier.

Gregg County

Longview Maintenance will be performing bridge channel maintenance at the US 259 Bypass at Barnett Creek. Work will be done southbound, south of Danville Rd. The second location will be on SH 31 W at Rabbit Creek. Motorists should expect a right lane closure on the westbound side, between SH 135 and Old Hwy 135 S.

Gregg County construction projects updates:

SH 135 – Kilgore Traffic Circle

  • Limits: Traffic circle in Kilgore to Rusk County line
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge
  • Cost: $8.37 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: July 2025

This project involves rebuilding the traffic circle and the entire width of the roadway to the Rusk County line. Crews will be constructing a concrete median, laying asphalt paving, lighting, and striping. No work scheduled this week. Awaiting UP railroad permit renewal.

High Street Bridge over UP Railroad

  • Limits: Nelson St. to Marion Dr.
  • Contractor: Ragle Construction
  • Cost: $9.3 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2025

This project will replace the High Street bridge over the UP railroad. High Street is reduced to two lanes – one northbound and one southbound. One half of the bridge will be constructed at a time. Project is substantially complete. The bridge was open to traffic the week of 4/29. Motorists should expect occasional lane closures for the contractor to complete the punch list.

Henderson County

Athens crews are scheduled to perform ditch and culvert maintenance at various locations throughout the county. Expect daytime lane closures with flaggers and a pilot vehicle controlling traffic. Another crew will perform bridge repairs at various locations.

Henderson County construction projects updates:

SH 198 Bridge Project

  • Limits: At the Clear Creek Bridge a mile north of FM 3054 to 0.1 mile north of CR 2830
  • Contractor: Copasa Inc.
  • Cost: $30.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work have been completed.

The contractor is awaiting final acceptance. The project includes replacing bridges and approaches, grading, structures, base and surface work, retaining walls, curbs and gutters, fencing, and striping.

FM 316 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: From FM 1861 to US 175
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $7.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work have been completed.

The project is in time suspension and awaiting final acceptance. The project includes pavement reconstruction, structures, pavement markings and signs.

FM 315 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: From FM 3079 to FM 317
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction, LTD
  • Cost: $1.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work have been completed.

The contractor currently performing edge work at various locations throughout the project limits. There should be no impact to traffic. The project includes pavement reconstruction, structures, pavement markings and signs.

BUS 19 Sidewalks

  • Limits: From Ben Belt Fr. To S Loop 7 ramps
  • Contractor: 3LW Civil, LCC
  • Cost: $2.6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2025

The contractor is placing concrete for the sidewalks and driveways. Motorists should expect lane closures while work is in progress. This project includes sidewalk and pedestrian lane improvements.

SH 19 Super 2 Project

  • Limits: From 0.3 Mi. S of FM 1861 (Van Zandt C/L) S to 0.1 Mi. N of SL 7 in Athens (Watson)
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction LTD
  • Cost: $20.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

The contractor is scheduled to work on roadway widening for the northbound lane. The speed limit is reduced to 60 mph throughout the project limits. This project includes adding a passing lane in each direction at multiple locations. It also includes grading, drainage structures, pavement markings, and signage.

BUS 31 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: From BUS 19 to SL 7
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction LTD
  • Cost: $8.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2025

Nighttime milling operations will continue. Motorists should expect lane closures. The project includes removal of current surface, base repairs, resurfacing, striping, and signage. Traffic should use caution when traveling through the work zone at night and expect pavement striping operations during the day.

Rusk County

Henderson Maintenance crews are scheduled to perform overlay on FM 1798 and edge work on SH 323 and FM 13. Also, contractors are scheduled to trim trees at various locations throughout the county. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Rusk County construction projects updates:

US 84 – FM 225 East to CR 3155

  • Limits: FM 225 east to CR 3155
  • Contractor: Drewery Construction Company
  • Cost: $12.8 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: November 2025

This project consists of reconstructing US 84, extended structures, hot mix asphalt surface, new signs, and striping. No work is expected this week. Motorists should expect delays when work is in progress.

FM 3231 – Subgrade and Seal coat

  • Limits: FM 1251 to SH 43
  • Contractor: Lone Star Equipment
  • Cost: $15.9 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2025

This project consists of reconstructing FM 3231 completely. Work includes widening and re-laying subgrade, flex base material, and seal coat. Driveway culverts will be upgraded along with new signs and striping. The contractor is scheduled to work on punch list items.

SH 315

  • Limits: US 259 to the Panola County line
  • Contractor: Madden Construction
  • Cost: $13.5 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2025

This project consists of widening pavement edges and installing a four-foot space between the traffic lanes to separate opposing traffic for safety. Work will also include adding a passing lane in each direction of travel. Shoulder work is complete. New hot mix will be placed for the final surface. Crews are also scheduled to begin seal coat operations this week.

FM 2658

  • Limits: FM 1251 to SH 43
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction
  • Cost: $9.6 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: July 2025

This project consists of reconstructing FM 2658 completely, from CR 344 to FM 1251. Work includes a new guard fence, treating subgrade, base material, seal coat, and striping. This week, the contractor is scheduled to rework the existing base in the remaining areas.

US 79 N

  • Limits: CR 344 to CR 333
  • Contractor: Garrett Shields Construction
  • Cost: $718,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2025

This project consists of repairing slope failure in the TxDOT right of way. The site will be excavated, and a new embankment will be placed. This week, the contractor will be working on punch list items. Work will mostly be off of the roadway.

SH 43

  • Limits: FM 1251 north to FM 2658
  • Contractor: Madden Construction
  • Cost: $21.2 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2025

This project consists of milling approximately six inches off the surface and replacing it with new hot mix. The project includes clearing the right of way, replacing driveway pipes, and striping. This week, the contractor will be milling and laying new hot mix. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Smith County

Smith County crews will have one crew on FM 15 performing sealcoat prep. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. A second crew is scheduled to sealcoat prep on FM 2493, south of Loop 49. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Also, crews will apply herbicide at various locations throughout the county.

Smith County construction projects updates:

US 69 Rehab Existing Road and Restricted Crossing U-Turn (R-Cut)

  • Limits: Cumberland Road to .45 miles north of FM 346
  • Contractor: Drewery Construction Company, INC
  • Cost: $5.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2025

The contractor is scheduled to complete milling operations from Cumberland Rd., south to Toll 49. The contractor will then begin paving in that same section once milling work is complete. This project consists of rehabilitating existing roadway and installing a restricted crossing U-turn (R-Cut) at FM 2813 intersection.

SH 31 Safety Improvement

  • Limits: SH 31 (Smith Co) limits from the Neches River bridge to 0.051 miles west of Toll 49
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $3.85 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2025

The contractor is scheduled to remove the barrier wall for SH 31. Motorists should expect lane closures on SH 31. Once complete, crews will move to US 69 to begin prep work for the mow strip and cable barrier. No lane closures are expected. This project consists of safety improvements consisting of backfill and topsoil operations. No lane closures are expected.

I-20 Frontage Road at SH 155

  • Limits: Westbound off ramp at SH 155 from intersection to 600 ft toward I-20
  • Contractor: FNH Construction, LLC.
  • Cost: $600,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work have been completed.

The contractor has no work scheduled. No lane closures expected. Project consists of resurfacing the roadway, pavement markings, signage, and illumination.

FM 2493 Widen Non-Freeway

  • Limits: FM 346 in Flint, south to 0.3 miles south of FM 344
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road LTD
  • Cost: $52 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2027

This project consists of widening the existing non-freeway roadway. Utility relocations are in progress. The speed limit is scheduled to be reduced to 45 mph in the work zone.

County Bridge Replacements

  • Limits: CR 35 bridge at Hitts Creek Trib., CR 336 at Wiggins Creek, CR 411 at Prairie Creek Trib., CR 471 at Prairie Creek, CR 452 at Mill Creek, CR 411 at Caney Creek.
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $6.2 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2025

The contractor is scheduled to begin laying hot mix for the bridge approaches. This project consists of replacing existing bridge facilities and approaches. Construction is on-going at CR 452 over Mill Creek. The bridge will be closed for the duration of construction.

I-20 Bridge Maintenance

  • Limits: I-20 bridges over CR 35 (Lavender Rd); FM 14; SH 155; FM 3311; CR 353; US 271; CR 3101 (Barber Rd); CR 3116 (Philpot Rd)
  • Contractor: Olympus Painting Contractors, Inc.
  • Cost: $3 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2025

Crews are scheduled to paint on the FM 14 and SH 155 bridges and finish by the end of the week. No lane closures are expected. Crews will also continue work at the Philpot Rd. bridge at I-20. Expect lane closures throughout the week. When complete, crews are scheduled to move to Barber Rd. to begin abrasive blasting. Motorists should expect nightly lane closures at this location. The project consists of cleaning and painting the existing steel bridge structures.

Legacy Trails Extension

  • Limits: Stewart Park to Peete Elementary
  • Contractor: THK Construction LLC.
  • Cost: $3.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2025

Crews have no work scheduled this week. Motorists should drive with caution.

FM 16 Widening and Realignment

  • Limits: 4 mi west of FM 849 east to US 69 in Lindale
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction LLC
  • Cost: $44.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2025

The project consists of grading, asphalt base, asphalt surface overlay paving, storm drain, bridge, and culvert structures, signing, pavement markings, and signals. A traffic shift is currently in place through town. Traffic will be in two lanes during this phase of construction. The contractor is scheduled to form the sidewalks as well as embankment installation. Motorists are urged to drive with caution through the work zone.

Van Zandt County 


Crews are scheduled to perform sealcoat on FM 3227 from SH 198 to FM 47. When complete, crews will move to the I-20 service roads between SH 64 and Turner Hayden Road. Motorists should expect lane closures and flaggers controlling traffic at each location.

Van Zandt County construction projects updates:

FM 17, FM 47, and FM 859 Bridge Replacement

  • Limits: Bridge at FM 17, FM 47, and FM 859 over I-20
  • Contractor: Indus Bridge and Road
  • Cost: $14.5 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: February 2026

This project is for the construction of a new bridge and approaches, grading, base and surface, and metal beam guard fence installation. Motorists should expect work zone speed limit reductions and shoulder width reductions on the I-20 main lanes. Motorists should also expect work zone speed limit reductions and shoulder width reductions on the I-20 frontage roads. On FM 17, crews will cement treat the embankment and base work. Embankment work is ongoing on FM 47. Crews are also scheduled to place rebar in preparation for setting the deck. This is scheduled for the night of May 18. FM 47 will be closed, and I-20 traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads. I-20 will be reopened the morning of May 19. Both the FM 47 and FM 17 bridges are closed.

FM 1255 Rehabilitate Existing Roadway

  • Limits: I-20 to SH 110
  • Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, LTD.
  • Cost: $17.1 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: October 2025

This project is for the rehabilitation of the existing roadway consisting of roadway widening, grading, rework base material, cement treatment, flex base, resurfacing intersections & driveways, extending cross structures, signs, and pavement markings. The project will be completed under traffic. Right of way prep and tree trimming are ongoing. Roadway rehabilitation operations will continue. Motorists should expect lane closures and speed zone reductions.

I-20 WB Exit Ramp at SH 19

  • Limits: From WB exit ramp to SH 19
  • Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, LTD
  • Cost: $1.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2025

This project consists of ramp improvements. Crews have begun construction on the drainage structures and frontage road alignment. Contractor is scheduled to continue cement treating the base. Contractor is scheduled to begin hot mix operations soon. Lane closures and traffic shifts are expected. Motorists should expect delays when work is in progress.

SH 64 at I-20 and SH 155 at I-20 Traffic Signal Installation

  • Limits: Intersection of SH 64 at I-20 and intersection of SH 155 and I-20
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $2.2 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2025

The project includes the construction and installation of traffic control devices including pedestrian signals. The SH 64 intersection striping layout has been completed. SH 155 intersection signals are complete and functioning. The frontage roads between SH 155 and Lawhon Ave. have been converted to one-way travel only. Major items of work have been completed. The contractor will be addressing punch list items.

FM 1651 Rehabilitate Existing Roadway

  • Limits: From SH 198 east to SH 19
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC.
  • Cost: $10.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

Construction is on-going for the cross structures and headwalls. The project is for the rehabilitation of the existing roadway, including widening, base repairs, signage, and striping. Subgrade work will be completed in one-mile segments. Lane closures and speed zone reductions are expected. Motorists should expect delays.

FM 279 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: 0.24 miles east of FM 314 to SH 64
  • Contractor: Big Creek LLC.
  • Cost: $7.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2025

The contractor is currently clearing right of way. Motorists should expect delays and use caution when traveling through the area. Lane closures are in place. The project consists of pavement repair, grading ditches, drainage structures, asphalt, striping, and signage.

Wood County

This week, Mineola crews are scheduled to overlay on FM 17 between the Alba city limits and Yantis. Expect lane closures with flaggers and a pilot vehicle controlling traffic. Additionally, are scheduled to perform bridge maintenance at various locations. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Wood County construction projects updates:

US 69 Hot mix overlay

  • Limits: Rains County line to CR 2370
  • Contractor: True Roads Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $6.35 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2025

This project consists of milling, level-up, surface repair, structures, signs, and pavement markings. Hot mix pavement operations are now underway. The project punch list is also being worked on. Lane closures are expected and speed limit reductions are in place. Motorists should expect delays.

US 69 Grade-Separated Interchange

  • Limits: From 0.96 miles north of FM 779 to 1.03 miles south of FM 779
  • Contractor: Lamar Companies, LLC
  • Cost: $37.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2026

This project consists of grading, base, asphalt, drainage, structures, overpass, signing, and striping. Crews are working on curb and gutter installation at the frontage roads. Crews are also preparing the foundations for the retaining wall. Motorists should be cautious of the large equipment traveling through the work zone. Lane closures are expected, and work zone speed reductions are in place. Motorists should expect delays.

  • Limits: Gregg, Smith, and Van Zandt counties
  • Contractor: Firemen Excavation, maintenance activities, follow up action worksheet summary for bridge work repair in Gregg, Smith, and Van Zandt Counties.
  • Contractor: Andrews Diversified Industries, litter removal.
  • Debris Removal/Pothole Repair Inside Lanes: Thursdays in all three counties.
  • Debris Removal/Pothole Repair Outside Lanes: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in all three counties.
  • Debris Removal/Pothole Repair Frontage Roads/Ramps: Friday in all counties.
  • Guardrail/Sign Repair: Emergency repairs due to vehicle crashes in all counties.
  • Tree Trimming/Removal: Smith County.
