US 87 mill and seal project underway
MCCULLOCH COUNTY –TxDOT Brownwood District’s contractor has begun milling and sealing US 87 in McCulloch County. This project’s purpose is to extend the life of the road surface. The limits of the project extend from 0.5 miles south of SH 71 to the Mason County Line.
Crews will mill the road surface and restripe the freshly textured surface. In approximately one month, crews will return to apply a seal coat to this location. After this a permanent striping will be applied. Work is expected to be complete in approximately 4 weeks, weather permitting.
One lane will be closed in the four-lane section of US 87; however, where the road narrows to two lanes, flaggers will assist traffic through a one lane closure.
Please obey all signage, avoid distractions, and use caution in and near the work zone. Watch for crews and equipment entering and exiting the work zone.
