Senior Director of Communications and Public Affairs
Alejandro Garcia serves as Senior Director of Communications and Public Affairs.
He is responsible for the coordination of TxDOT's overall communications and public affairs strategy, overseeing and directing the Communications and Travel Information divisions.
Garcia brings a wealth of experience and a vast portfolio in communications, public affairs, government relations, state policy, and campaigns. His strong leadership and focus on telling a compelling story has enabled him to strategically lead some of Texas's most notable and highest profile communications efforts. As a fluently bilingual Laredo native, he has guided and crafted strategic communications through various hot topics and crisis events for state agencies and elected officials. Alejandro has served under five Texas secretaries of state, the Texas lieutenant governor’s office, and former Texas governor. Most recently, Garcia served as director of communications for the Texas Office of the Attorney General, where he oversaw agency-wide messaging, the communication and constituent affairs divisions.
Garcia holds a bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in criminal justice from Texas A&M International University and a master's degree in political science with a concentration in international relations from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
