Odessa District Engineer

Eric Lykins, P.E., is the district engineer for TxDOT's Odessa District. The district comprises 12 counties: Andrews, Crane, Ector, Loving, Martin, Midland, Pecos, Reeves, Terrell, Upton, Ward, and Winkler.

Before joining TxDOT, Lykins worked for a consulting firm from 1995 to 1998. He then joined TxDOT in 1998 and became a key member of the Brownwood District, where he remained until 2022. Starting as an Engineering Assistant, Lykins quickly advanced, earning his Professional Engineering license in 2000 and stepping into the role of Assistant Area Engineer. In 2011, he was promoted to Area Engineer and, the following year, took on the position of Director of Construction. He served in this role for six years before being appointed Director of Operations in 2018. In June 2022, Lykins was appointed District Engineer for the Odessa District.

Lykins holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University, graduating in 1994, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas.
