On Aug. 29, 2013, the Texas Transportation Commission conditionally awarded to Williams Brothers Construction Co. to enter into a design, construction and capital maintenance contract for the Loop 1604 Western Extension.
Special Note: Pre-QS workshop address correction
The Pre-QS Workshop scheduled for 10 a.m on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, is being held at the following corrected address:
TxDOT Bexar Metro Area Office 9320 S.E. Loop 410 San Antonio, TX 78223
The purpose of the project is to upgrade Loop 1604 in Northwest San Antonio from FM 471 (Culebra Road) to SH 16 (Bandera Road) with the intent to improve safety and mobility, enhance system continuity and foster economic development.
TxDOT may include in the procurement an option, exercisable at its sole discretion, to expand the project limits to the south to provide for the design, construction and maintenance of improvements to Loop 1604 at SH 151.
The existing facility is mostly a four-lane divided roadway with at-grade signalized intersections.
The proposed project provides the following improvements:
- A four-lane expressway section
- New overpasses at Shaenfield Road, New Guilbeau Road and Braun Road
- Frontage roads
- City street connections
- Tie-in transitions to existing Loop 1604
No additional right-of-way is anticipated for the proposed improvements.
