SH 7 at Lanana Creek bridge replacement
Project overview
TxDOT is proposing to replace the existing bridge on SH 7 (Main St) at La Nana Creek , which is adjacent to the La Nana Creek Trail and Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden, a City of Nacogdoches park.
Proposed improvements
The project would be designed to enhance safety by meeting current design standards and would include:
- Removing the existing bridge
- Constructing a new bridge with four 12-foot-wide travel lanes, two four-foot-wide shoulders, and 6-foot-wide sidewalks in each direction
- Providing bridge barrier rails that will separate vehicle and pedestrian traffic
- Accommodating users of the Lanana Creek Trail by increasing clearance underneath the bridge
Project timeline
- Environmental studies began in spring 2023. Environmental approval was completed in February 2025
- Right-of-way acquisition began in winter 2025 and are anticipated to be completed in winter 2027
- The detailed engineering plans, environmental permitting, and utility relocations are expected to be completed by winter 2028
- Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2029
