Loop 88 Segment 3C

Current status

Segment 3C is a part of the overall Loop 88 project in Lubbock County. The goal of the project is to improve mobility and reduce congestion in the area as many goods are transported within the region.

The project would convert existing two‐lane rural roadways section to an access‐controlled, six‐lane divided freeway section with frontage roads and ramps.

The construction schedule for Loop 88 Segment 3C is unique to the remaining sections of Loop 88 Segment 3. Please view the map linked below in the “Downloads” section to visualize the remaining sections of Loop 88 Segment 3.

Current activity

TxDOT is preparing to let the project during the Summer of 2026. Once award of the project is completed this project webpage will be updated with proposed lane closures, construction detours, and updated timelines. The Lubbock District Public Information Officer will also update the community thru news releases once construction has begun.

Here’s what can be expected once construction commences.

  • Clearing Right of Way for construction preparation
  • Construction of drainage ponds and beginning drainage improvements
  • Begin construction of pavement at Avenue U
