SH 361 Feasibility Study

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Corpus Christi District is conducting a feasibility study that focuses on SH 361 and the SH 361/SH 35/US 181 Interchange in and around the cities of Gregory, Portland, and Ingleside. The purpose of this feasibility study is to identify opportunities to better connect US 181 and SH 361 while also improving safety and mobility. This is part of a larger project to improve the SH 361 corridor in San Patricio County from the SH 361/SH 35 interchange to east of FM 1069. During the feasibility phase of project development, engineers and planners conduct studies to define problems, gather data, recommend solutions, weigh the potential environmental impacts and analyze a preferred concept.

Any proposed improvements will ultimately be based on traffic, local and regional access needs, safety, the avoidance and minimization of environmental impacts and the consideration of community input.

Anticipated project schedule

The SH 361 project began in July 2018 and is anticipated to run through August 2025.
