| Open house details | Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026 The public meeting will be held in “open house” format. Attendees will be able to view hard copies of project materials, ask questions of TxDOT staff and/or consultants and leave written comments. There will be no formal presentation at this meeting. |
| Purpose | TxDOT is seeking feedback on a feasibility study to explore a potential relief route around the City of Bay City in Matagorda County, Texas. |
| Description | The purpose of the relief route is to help reduce congestion while also improving safety and mobility. |
| Accessibility | The virtual public meeting and in-person option will be conducted in English. Interpreter or document translation services will be provided upon request for those who have limited English proficiency or difficulty communicating effectively in English. Reasonable accommodations also may be made for persons with disabilities. To request interpretation, translation or other accommodations, contact the TxDOT Yoakum District public information officer at 361-293-4436 no later than 4 p.m. CT, Friday, Feb. 13, 2026. Advance notice is required because some services and accommodations may take time for the Texas Department of Transportation to arrange. La reunión pública se llevará a cabo en inglés. All comments must be received on or before Friday, March 6, 2026 to be a part of the official public meeting record. Responses to comments received will be on file and available for inspection at the TxDOT Yoakum District Office once they have been prepared. |
| Memorandum of Understanding | The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated July 17, 2025, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT. |
