| Virtual details | The virtual meeting will consist of a prerecorded video presentation with both audio and visual components. The presentation will be posted to this webpage by 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, until Monday, Oct. 19, 2026. This meeting offers the public an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed priorities. The Rural TIP is the first step toward producing the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. |
| Purpose | The purpose of this meeting is to provide information and receive comments on an expansion project in Wharton County. |
| Description | The Rural TIP includes both grouped projects and individually listed projects that include added-capacity projects and regionally significant projects to be funded outside of the MPO boundary, and within a TxDOT district during the next four years, including those eligible for federal funding. This meeting offers the public an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed priorities. The Rural TIP is the first step on the road to producing a Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The US 59 project (CSJ 0089-07-166) is an expansion project on US 59 from FM 961 to CR 456 (Pierce) in Wharton County. The project was included in the 2027-2030 Rural TIP and was awarded in August 2026. Therefore, it is proposed for removal from the 2027-2030 Rural TIP. The Rural TIP meetings are being held pursuant to Title 43, Texas Administrative Code, Section 16.102, which calls for an opportunity for public comment concerning the Rural TIP. The same information including a short presentation, exhibits explaining how the Rural TIP operates, and projects that are included in it will be available to view online. |
| Accessibility | The virtual public meeting will be conducted in English. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or you have difficulty communicating effectively in English, one will be provided to you. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs.
