Purpose

The City of Waco, in coordination with TxDOT, is proposing to widen Speegleville Road and reconstruct the existing bridge 0.61 miles south of Maple Shade Road to north of Oak Road in McLennan County, Texas.

Description

The project would extend from south of Maple Shade Road to north of Oak Road, for approximately 3,221 linear feet (LF). The total project length would extend 0.61 miles. The proposed project would take place within the existing 101-foot-wide to 233-foot-wide right-of-way (ROW). The proposed project would construct an additional northbound and southbound travel lane, creating a four-lane roadway separated by a painted median. The proposed bridge crossing would be separated into two different bridges elevated over the Middle Bosque River for a total of 528 feet in length for each. Both bridges would have concrete shoulders. The northbound bridge would include two 12-foot-wide northbound lanes, and the southbound bridge would include two 12-foot-wide southbound lanes. In addition to roadway improvements, pedestrian crosswalk striping and sidewalks would be added along Speegleville Road. Sidewalk widths would range from 6 to 12 feet.

The proposed project would involve an action in a floodplain.

Any environmental documentation or studies, any maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available for inspection by appointment only, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Contact the project manage by email (as shown in notice) or by phone 254-750-6613 to schedule a meeting.
