Purpose TxDOT is conducting a feasibility study to evaluate alternative alignments for a new location facility (truck/relief route) around the city of Hamilton in Hamilton County, Texas. TxDOT is also proposing to widen US 281 from US 84 (Evant, TX) to SH 6 (Hico, TX) in Hamilton County.  This notice advises the public that TxDOT will be conducting an in-person and online virtual public meeting addressing the widening project and the study.
Description

The US 281 Hamilton Truck/ Relief Route Feasibility Study and Widening Project is evaluating Alternative Alignment concepts for a new location truck / relief route located around the City of Hamilton to alleviate US 281 traffic congestion in downtown Hamilton.  The Widening Project would evaluate potential future capacity improvements to the US 281 corridor.  The project would be approximately 37 miles long from Evant, TX to Hico, TX.  The widening concepts being explored would widen US 281 to a four-lane divided roadway.  New alignment and widening options would require additional right of way to accommodate the potential US 281 improvements and traffic congestion alleviation being explored by the project and the study.  Further environmental studies would be needed to determine environmental impacts.

Any maps and drawings presenting the project and study location and alternatives, along with other information regarding the project and study are on file and available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at TxDOT Waco District Office, 100 S. Loop Drive, Waco, TX 76704. Project and study materials are also available online on this webpage.
