Public Meeting - US 83 La Joya Relief Route

Purpose: To gather public comment on route alternatives for the proposed eight-mile US 83 La Joya Relief Route project in Hidalgo, Texas.

Five different route alternatives will be presented. The proposed project runs between Farm-to-Market Road (FM) 886 (El Faro Road) and Showers Road.
Description: Proposed improvements during Phase 1 consist of the following:
  • Construction of a four-lane, controlled-access expressway consisting of two, two-lane roadways separated by a depressed median
  • Each roadway would consist of two, 12 foot wide lanes, a four foot wide inside shoulder, and 10 foot wide outside shoulder
