The purpose of the public hearing is to gather public input on the proposed acquisition of property for use as a placement area for materials dredged from the main channel of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW). Displays will be available for viewing at 5:30 p.m. The formal hearing starts at 6:30 p.m., and comments must be received on or before Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, to be a part of the official record.
This notice is provided as required by the Texas Coastal Waterways Act, Transportation Code, Section 51.006. The proposed disposal site to be considered for acquisition is a 355.26 acre parcel of land in the Henry Burt Abstract – 151 and the D. Gilliland Survey Abstract – 195, Brazoria County, Texas. TxDOT is acquiring the property in order to fulfill its responsibilities as the non-federal sponsor of the GIWW. These responsibilities include providing right of way and placement areas for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) operation and maintenance of the GIWW. Right of way and displacement requirements are not applicable for this acquisition.
