Notice and Opportunity to Comment on FM 3338 from FM 1472 to SH 255 in Webb County, Texas

Purpose:

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is proposing to widen and realign FM 3338 from FM 1472 to SH 255 in Webb County, Texas. This notice is affording an opportunity to comment as part of the schematic review process for this project. This project is currently not funded and a construction schedule is not available.

Description:

TxDOT Laredo District is proposing to upgrade FM 3338 (Las Tiendas Rd) from an existing 2-lane road, to a 4-lane road with a continuous left turn lane, to better accommodate the increasing truck traffic due to the anticipated development in the area. This 7.7-mile project is located in Webb County just outside Laredo city limits that provides access to and from the Ranchos Penitas West neighborhood. In order to accommodate a wider roadway and roadside ditches, the right-of-way (ROW) width will be increased from the existing 120-ft. wide ROW to 200-ft. wide ROW.

Although additional right-of-way would be required, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling 956-712-7401

Memorandum of Understanding:

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 09, 2019, and executed by the FHWA and TxDOT.
