Public Meeting - FM 523

Where:	Lanier Middle School 522 North Avenue B Freeport, TX 77541	When:	Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Purpose:	The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input and receive comments on the proposed reconstruction of FM 523 from SH 332 to FM 1495 in Brazoria County, Texas. The proposed project would improve safety and mobility by adding capacity.

Description:	The proposed reconstruction of FM 523 from SH 332 to FM 1495 includes: Widening FM 523 from a two-lane to a four-lane road. Adding a center left-turn lane. Replacing three bridges (East Union Bayou, Dow Barge Canal, and Dow Wastewater Canal). No changes are proposed to the drainage system or posted speed limits. The project would not require new right of way. No residential or commercial displacements are proposed. The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
