Description:
SH 35 would generally be a new location roadway from I-45 to I-610 in Harris County. The construction limits for the proposed project are from I-45 to Dixie Drive. The proposed project would construct a roadway that ranges from four to ten lanes wide (two to five lanes in each direction in various areas of the project), each lane being 12-feet wide, with a multi-level interchange at I-610. The number of lanes transitions from four main lanes (between Dixie Drive and Glencoe Avenue), to six main lanes (between Glencoe Avenue and Griggs Road), to 10 main lanes (between Griggs Road and Old Spanish Trail) and back to eight main lanes (between Old Spanish Trail and I-45). The SH 35/I-610 interchange would consist of a multi-level interchange between SH 35 and I-610. The proposed SH 35 main lanes would be elevated over the existing I-610 main lanes. Four elevated direct connectors, each consisting of one 14-foot lane, would be constructed to permit entrance and exit to both SH 35 and I-610. Direct connectors would be constructed from SH 35 southbound to I-610 eastbound, SH 35 southbound to I-610 westbound, I-610 westbound to SH 35 northbound, and I-610 eastbound to SH 35 northbound.
The proposed project is approximately 3.4 miles in length and would require approximately 13.5 acres of additional ROW. The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace three residences and four commercial properties.
