Purpose The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input and provide information about the proposed realignment and widening of FM 917 in downtown Joshua from west of Avenue F to east of SH 174 in Johnson County, Texas.
Description

The proposed project would include realigning and widening FM 917 from just west of Avenue F to east of SH 174. The road would be widened from a two-lane to a three-lane roadway section, with a 16-foot striped median/turn lane. The improvements would form a continuous alignment of FM 917 through the City of Joshua. A new overpass would be constructed for FM 917 over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad and over Main Street. There would also be an addition of a continuous bicycle and pedestrian shared-use path on one side of FM 917, and a sidewalk on the other side. The purpose of this project is to enhance mobility and connectivity, providing reliable travel times within the downtown Joshua area.

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require 6.4 acres of additional right of way and potentially displace 18 residences and one non-residential structure. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses.

Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction, can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling 817-370-6593.
