Purpose TxDOT Fort Worth District, The City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County and the Regional Transportation Council are proposing to widen Bonds Ranch Road from west of BUS 287 to east of Aviator Drive, construct an overpass crossing of BUS 287 and the Union Pacific and BNSF railroads, and improve the intersection at BUS 287 in Tarrant County, Texas.
Description

The proposed project would widen approximately 0.6 miles of Bonds Ranch Road from west of BUS 287 to east of Aviator Drive, expand the roadway to two lanes in each direction with a center median and left turn lane, install curb and gutter drainage, construct a shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists, and construct an overpass carrying Bonds Ranch Road over BUS 287 and the BNSF and Union Pacific railroad crossings. Additional improvements include widening 0.6 miles of BUS 287 to two lanes in each direction with left-turn and acceleration/deceleration lanes and constructing new connections to maintain access from BUS 287 to Bonds Ranch Road. These improvements are intended to address increasing traffic volumes, enhance safety, reduce congestion and delay, and improve mobility through roadway upgrades and elimination of ground-level railroad crossings.

Although additional right of way would be required, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time.

The proposed project may impact a property that is currently being evaluated for protection under Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act of 1966. Studies are ongoing to determine eligibility and the nature of any project impacts.
