I-20 Arlington/Grand Prairie Corridor Study

The in-person option will follow an “open house” format and in-person attendees will be able to view the same presentation delivered in the online public meeting which will be playing on a screen, review hard copies of project materials, ask questions and leave written comments.

The I-20 Arlington/Grand Prairie Corridor Study limits are within the cities of Arlington and Grand Prairie in Tarrant and Dallas counties. The study will evaluate connectivity and through traffic movements with the adjacent transportation network: SH 360 from Arkansas Lane to East Sublett Road/West Camp Wisdom Road and PGBT/SH 161 from Mayfield Road to Bardin Road. The study will evaluate potential alternatives to add capacity to the interstate. Additional proposed improvements would include continuous one-way frontage roads with bicycle and pedestrian accommodations; ramping improvements with auxiliary lanes; and reconstruction of interchanges and intersections. TxDOT is requesting the public’s input on the potential alternatives including the no build option, the addition of general purpose lanes, the addition of general purpose lanes with collector distributors and the addition of general purpose lanes with express lanes.

The proposed improvements may, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace residences and non-residential structures.

The proposed project may potentially impact a protected recreation area. TxDOT anticipates making a de minimis determination for this use under Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act of 1966.  Public comment on the effects of the proposed project on the activities, features, or attributes of the Gene Schrickel, Jr. Park may be submitted as described below.

The proposed project could involve construction in wetlands and action in a floodplain.

The virtual public meeting and in-person option will be conducted in English.
