Public Meeting - Loop 375 Border Highway West Extension Project

Where: University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP)
El Paso Natural Gas Conference Center
Wiggins Road
El Paso, TX 79924
(across from the UTEP Library)

When: Wednesday, June 20, 2012
4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Purpose: The purpose of the meeting is to update the public about progress on the proposed project as well as to inform the public that the project limits have changed since the last public scoping meeting was held in December 2011. Further access refinements in the downtown area and the New Mexico 273 area will also be discussed. In addition, the meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to provide comments on project documents including the updated Project Coordination Plan and Need and Purpose Statement.

Description: The proposed Loop 375 Border Highway West Extension Project would begin at Racetrack Drive and would extend to US 54. The proposed project would provide a continuous route with a project length of approximately 10 miles.

The proposed project would add capacity and upgrade the existing facility by providing a new four-lane, partially-controlled access facility that may follow portions of the existing Loop 375 or US 85. The proposed project would close the gap on Loop 375 that exists from Santa Fe Street downtown to US 85. Due to funding constraints and legislative guidance, tolling would be considered as a funding option for the primary facility; however, all current non-tolled lanes would remain non-tolled.
